Year 4: Planet Omar: Unexpected Super Spy' by Zanib Mian

In Year 4 we are reading 'Planet Omar: Unexpected Super Spy' by Zanib Mian.

When Omar hears that his family's favorite mosque is at risk of shutting down due to lack of funds, he knows he has to do something. And with the help of his best friend Charlie and another unlikely ally, a great idea is born--a school talent contest!

Omar and his friends are super excited about their plan, that is until Omar's sister, Maryam, decides she and her friends are going to raise money, too, and the competition is on. The boys' talent show is a huge success but disaster strikes right at the end--all the money goes missing. Omar has no choice but to become a super spy to track down a foe much more wily than his sister.

Malaki says: 'I think it is really funny, especially when Omar imagines an imaginary dragon!'

Bukumni says: 'I like it because it's nice when two characters don't get along at first but then become friends.'

Maryam says: 'I like it because it is funny when Omar's little brother, Esa, is doing funny things at the mosque.'

We would give the Planet Omar series 5 stars because it is hilarious and exciting to read.

The Diary of Greg Heffley’s Best Friend - Year 5RF

Within 5RF the children have chosen two books that they wanted to vote on. The children chose Polar Lands due to our learning in Geography around Biomes. We then changed genre to fiction as the children wanted to enjoy a fictional book they believed would be funny.

What our reading ambassadors said about the book we have read.

Relas said about the 100 facts of Polar Lands: “This book is about a journey to the ends of the Earth and explore the coldest environments on our planet. I think the book is an excellent choice for a non-fiction book”.

Muhayminul said about the Diary of Greg Heffley’s Best Friend: “This book is about two old friends and their funny, old stories. I think this is a hilarious, great book. I would recommend this book, it is the funniest book I have ever read”.
