In Year 1 we are currently reading “Meerkat Mail” by Emily Gravett.
Sunny the Meerkat lives in the Kalahari desert with his family. Sunny and his family work together, play together, eat together, learn together, and sleep together. Sunny decides he needs a break, so he takes a trip to visit some relatives. He travels through many places, reporting back to his family via a series of postcards. Sunny realises that there is no place like home and is reunited with his family back in the desert.
Faith says: “I like that Sunny went on different adventures to lots of different places.”
Edward says: “I love that there are so many meerkats and other animals in the book.”
Jessie says: “I love that he decides to go back home and the meerkats throw him a welcome home party.”
1AM have enjoyed reading this book because it took us on an adventure. The wonderful postcards in the book have helped us to create our very own!
