In year 6 we are currently reading….. When the Sky falls by Phil Earle.
As World War II intensifies and bombs begin fall, Joseph is tasked with protecting the gorilla Adonis. This nerve-racking novel is based on a true story set in the heart of the war. As Joseph moves in with Mrs. F, a woman with no love for children his age, he meets Adonis, the Gorilla, his now only friend. Whilst and starting with not the best first impression, will Joseph be able to develop his relationship with Mrs. F and get her to ease off him?
Adam says, “I think this book is great! There are some sad parts to it but also some bits that made me laugh, especially when Joseph somehow lost the dog in the air raid shelter.”
Arwa says, “It’s a thrilling story with a lovely message. I really can’t wait to find out what happens next!”
Jenson says, “I am really enjoying this book so far! I love stories related to the war, they are so interesting.”
There are some mixed opinions, but for the most part Year 6 seem to be really enjoying the book so far, the suspense and mystery is really building.
